Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. For beginners, a four-step routine done consistently beats a ten-step routine done now and then.
Step 1: Cleanse
In the evening, if you wore makeup or sunscreen, remove it first and then wash with a gentle cleanser. In the morning, water or a mild cleanser is enough.
Step 2: Balance
A toner soothes the skin and preps it for what comes next. Choose an alcohol-free formula and pat it in with your hands instead of rubbing with cotton.
Step 3: Moisturise
Oily skin still needs moisture. Oily skin types suit lightweight gels, while dry skin prefers richer creams. If you add a serum, apply it before your moisturiser.
Step 4: Sunscreen (morning)
This is the single most important anti-ageing step. Use enough (roughly two finger-lengths for face and neck) and reapply if you are outdoors for long.
- Patch-test new products on a small area first
- Introduce only one new product at a time
- If a skin concern persists, see a dermatologist
Stick with it for four to six weeks and you should notice a more even tone and less irritation.
