There is no bad body shape, only dresses that haven’t found you yet. Knowing your shape helps you buy less and look better.
Pear (hips wider than shoulders)
Choose A-line dresses and skirts that flare gently from the waist, with details up top such as square necklines or puff sleeves for balance. Avoid dresses that cling at the hips.
Hourglass (balanced shoulders and hips, defined waist)
Wrap dresses and belted styles highlight your natural curves. Skip very boxy shift dresses that hide your waist.
Rectangle (shoulders, waist and hips similar)
Belts, pleats and ruffles create curves. A straight slip dress also works beautifully if you love a minimal look.
Apple (fuller through the middle)
Empire waists, V-necks and fabrics with soft drape are the most flattering. Avoid belts across the tummy.
- Midi length flatters almost every shape
- Dark solids slim, small prints are easier to wear than large ones
- Pointed-toe shoes make legs look longer
