Good shoes are an investment. With a little care, they will look better with age rather than worn out.
Leather
Wipe off dust after wearing, then condition every few weeks and polish when needed. Use cedar shoe trees to keep their shape and absorb moisture.
Suede
Protect suede with a water-repellent spray before the first wear. Brush it regularly with a suede brush and use a suede eraser on small marks.
Sneakers
Clean white soles with a soft brush and a little mild soap. Remove laces and wash them separately, and never put leather sneakers in the washing machine.
- Rotate pairs so each one can dry out between wears
- Store shoes away from direct sunlight
- Visit a cobbler for new heels and soles before they wear through
