Your First Fashion Week: What to Prepare

From outfits and shoes to photo etiquette, what to know before your first show.

Rina Beauty – runway

Attending a fashion show for the first time can be exciting and a little overwhelming. A few pointers will help you feel at ease.

What to wear

Wear something that shows your personality but is still comfortable. You will stand and walk a lot between venues, so choose easy shoes or pack a spare pair.

Arrive early, stay considerate

Shows usually have a waiting area and seating by ticket. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early, sit where you are assigned and never block the runway.

Take photos politely

  • Turn off your flash
  • Don’t hold your phone high enough to block people behind you
  • Film short clips rather than the whole show

After the show

Jot down the colours, fabrics and silhouettes that stayed with you. They are wonderful inspiration for next season’s wardrobe.
